bondi band giveaway

I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I won a contest on Racevine. I received ten Bondi Bands in the mail this week. The last time I checked, I only have one head and ten headbands seemed a little excessive so I figured I’d give away the extras if anyone would like them.

My hair is gnarly and frizzes immediately upon contact with sweat; usually I wear one of those elastic headbands that you can get at the supermarket or Target, like this. They aren’t too snazzy, but they stay on my head so it works for me. I was pretty stoked about branching out into new headband realm. I’ve seen Bondi Bands at expos and there’s usually a small horde of women frantically digging through the huge bins of headbands like there’s free money at the bottom. They’re pretty spendy, though, and $8 for a headband is not really in the budget especially not knowing if they would be any good or not. I am pretty sad to report that I wore one of the solid color bands (which is a thicker material than the other Lycra bands) to classes on Tuesday and it kept sliding off my head. You know when you have a headband on and then you have the dipstick moment where you realize you’ve been walking around with it half slipped off of your head and it’s sitting on your ponytail? Yeah, that was me…three times. I went for a short run before dinner on Tuesday after it cooled down a little bit and put on one of the Lycra bands to see if it’d do any better when I was running. The Lycra version is a lot thinner and more slippery than the solid color band. It slipped off within a mile of my house and I ended up just leaving it around my neck because I didn’t want to deal with it.

So, I kind of don’t want to dog something I was given for free, but I was really glad I did not purchase these. On the other hand, I Googled a bit and a lot of people DO like these headbands and maybe they just aren’t good for me. I don’t like wearing a headband down on my forehead like they’re pictured on the website; it’s a little too Hulkamania for me and I need at least a tiny bit of my hair in front. Maybe you need to pull it down your forehead to get it to stay put. They seem pretty popular so maybe it’s my head that is defective.

If you think my assessment is horribly unjust and love Bondi Bands or just want to try one out, I have eight headbands that I didn’t wear (unless you want my sweated in ones?). Leave me a comment by 10pm Friday telling me about your worst clothing mishap (running or otherwise). If one person leaves a comment, I’ll send them all the headbands…if more than eight comment, I’ll use a random number generator to pick eight.

    Let’s see … worst clothing mishap …

Well, there’s the blog post I wrote about today which included me dropping my pants twice in public because there was a bee inside of them! Not sure if that qualifies as a clothing mishap or a bee mishap, though …

In the spirit of your blog post, I’ll give you a headband mishap: I decided to put red and green hairdye in my hair for this past year’s Thunder Road marathon. I got the stripes looking just perfect. And THEN I realized I still needed to put my headband in. Let’s just say dealing with that mess was not something I wanted to deal with on race day. I got the hair dye all over my hands and the headband. But all turned out well and I chalk it up to lesson learned: headband, and THEN hair stripes.

I would love to try out one or 8 of the headbands – I am in search for the perfect thing to make my hair look cute and still out of my face. And I’ll be in town on Saturday so you wouldn’t even have to mail them (hint hint!)

you might be getting all 8 because my rave review is doing nothing for people, apparently, and so far no other comments. it’ll save me a trip to the PO! good luck at racefest tomorrow!

I gotta tell you – I’m such a dork I keep checking the post and have been oh so happy to be the only one so far. I checked out their web site and the headbands look awesome – I can’t wait to try them! In fact, if you really don’t want them I’ll take your sweaty ones too – that’s what washing machines are for :D . Plus, we’ve run together so that means we’re practically old friends anyway …

yay hooray, you win. I can’t find the tenth headband – another reason not to spend that much money on a headband or pair of socks (have also misplaced a $7 pair of socks lately, they should be dayglow), but the nine are ready for you. how long are you in town?

Yay!!! Thank you! Will be in town I think through Twilight – trying to work out some scheduling stuff in Charlotte but I’d like to be here that long! Let’s plan a run day soon. I’d say today but … ugh … after Beerfest …
